The Colour-blend printing process

Our Colour-blend London maps are individually screen printed using a technique known as a split fountain.

Instead of digitally creating a colour gradient, we load different ink colours side by side in the same screen. As the ink is pulled across the map, the colours naturally meet and blend, creating a fluid transition between tones.

Because this is a physical screen-printing process, the way the colours blend can vary subtly from one print to another. Each print therefore has its own character, with the blended inks creating a beautiful screen print.

Hand Printed in London

Each print is produced using a premium 5-colour hand screen-printing process, giving the artwork a rich, tactile quality that sets it apart from standard digital prints.

We hand-screen-print every print in our studio in Woolwich, South East London, carefully applying each layer to create the finished artwork.
