Soho.
East of Regent Street and north of Picadilly Circus you'll find Golden Square now home to various media companies and what was once a 17th-century plague pit. The square also features in Charles Dickens David Copperfield & The life and adventures of Nicholas Nickleby.
The Colony Room Club at 41 Dean St was famous for a group of artists who became known as ‘The school of London’ they included Lucian Freud, Francis Bacon, Frank Auerbach, and Leon Kossoff. Another Soho institution which was located on Beak St was Murray’s Cabaret Club. This establishment became headline news in 1963 due to what was known as the Profumo Affair in which model and showgirl Christine Keeler had simultaneous sexual liaisons with the British secretary for war, John Profumo, and the Soviet attaché Yevgeny Ivanov.
